The text and paintings on The Trowbridge Chronicles are taken from the illustrated journal of Violet Trowbridge, a shrew that once lived in a village deep in the Olympic Rain Forest. Each new post will represent a portion of Mrs. Trowbridge’s journal.

MOUNTAIN SKYLINE

Mrs. Trowbridge always looks forward to summer holidays in the high meadows with her family and friends. This year things were different. Mrs. T wasn't happy about Woodrow's new rock climbing pursuits, but she followed him with her sketch pad nevertheless. The majestic Olympic skyline looms in the distance.

Woodrow was having the time of his life swinging from boulders. Here Mrs. T captures him practicing his rappelling techniques. Some of the best times for residents of Huckleberry Hollow are their summer treks to the high meadows.

Hurray! Another installment! Mrs. T should be happy that Woodrow hasn't decided to get a motorcycle. I love how peacful he looks atop the boulder...what a great view he has:>

Immediately the top drawing of Woodrow gets me a yearning to sit on top of the world and just look into the wide, wide sky.

Its interesting to see the pencil sketch, fits the rough surface of the rock!

Oh wow, what beautiful work. I wish I was able to create something as wonderful as this. Looking at these two pieces makes me want to know more about the character.

Oh no! Woodrow looks so small and vulnerable up there. I'd be having kittens if I were in Mrs T's shoes too.

You've really found your niche. You think and draw and draw and think very well. A very ambitious illustration.

Mrs. T's love for her beloved is so touching and sweet and I'm so tickled to be let into this intimate and tender moment!!!

You just have to believe that Woodrow knows exactly what he is doing! I would be cautious, however since his feet are rather long. He must be careful not to get one caught in his rapelling ropes or worse yet...between two rocks. The high meadows he is climbing are enchanting. Your preliminary sketches are just as inviting as your watercolors!

You are a genius and I'm so delighted to have found you (well actually you found me and left crumbs so I could find you). You have created an entire beautiful little world and peopled it with charming characters. I'm looking forward to coming back again and seeing and reading all the stories. I've added you to the links on my page so I can get there easily. May I ask if you do all your work digitally? It looks so hand drawn but I'm guessing it's digital and would be very interested to know.

Such detail, I love both of the illustrations. Woodrow looks so confident, not a care in the world. ... and yes, his new mountain climbing outfit is very outdoorsy, especially the bandana!

The high meadows do look like a lovely place to vacation, and does Woodrow look like a proper climber in his outfit. I hope his hobby hasn't caused Mrs. T too much worry Woodrow seems to be quite a strong mountaineer.

Very lovely illos.
