TEA TIME AT THE BROOK

Mrs. Trowbridge was a true renaissance shrew. Not only was she a masterful scribe and artist, but she wrote delightful limericks too. It seems that her talent had no end! Melvin and Louise were two small creatures who lived in Huckleberry Hollow. Mrs. T wrote the poem because it was uncommon for creatures of different kinds to become romantic partners. Apparently the love between Melvin and Louise was the stuff that legends are made of, at least rain forest legends. Melvin is a Pacific tree Frog (Hyla regilla), native to the Olympic rain forest. Louise is a Trowbridge Shrew. The flowers are Magenta Paintbrush, an Olympic endemic, found only in the Olympic wilderness, and nowhere else on earth.

  3. There once was an artist named Bron
Whose art was so elegantly drawn
    He labored all night
    by dim candlelight
and finished them just before dawn.

  5. Marvelous! Picnic basket flying over the little ladybug condos. Looks like they'll be enjoying tea time, too. Great artwork... especially like your background textures and muted colors under the calligraphy.

  10. A pinch of Robert Frost and a dash of Shel Silverstein, and what do you get? Socmo's daddy...Doug Jones. Read the poem that he wrote for Mrs. Trowbridge in these comments. Thanks, Doug. I appreciate it and Mrs. T would too.

This is delightful! I hadn't thought about adding so much in the form of a story to the drawing, but it added so much to the "assignment." :)

    Beautiful work!
