TEA TIME AT THE BROOK
Mrs. Trowbridge was a true renaissance shrew. Not only was she a masterful scribe and artist, but she wrote delightful limericks too. It seems that her talent had no end! Melvin and Louise were two small creatures who lived in Huckleberry Hollow. Mrs. T wrote the poem because it was uncommon for creatures of different kinds to become romantic partners. Apparently the love between Melvin and Louise was the stuff that legends are made of, at least rain forest legends. Melvin is a Pacific tree Frog (Hyla regilla), native to the Olympic rain forest. Louise is a Trowbridge Shrew. The flowers are Magenta Paintbrush, an Olympic endemic, found only in the Olympic wilderness, and nowhere else on earth.

What wonderful calligraphy and illustration.
i love you illustrations....just amazing.
There once was an artist named Bron
Whose art was so elegantly drawn
He labored all night
by dim candlelight
and finished them just before dawn.
You do such beautiful work. I visited your web site, as well, and find you're as prolific as you are talented!
Marvelous! Picnic basket flying over the little ladybug condos. Looks like they'll be enjoying tea time, too. Great artwork... especially like your background textures and muted colors under the calligraphy.
'shy, cheesy look'...lol...like it!
I love the limerick of Melvin and Louise, an eventful tea, and the gorgeous look of your illustration.
Everyweek I look forward to your posts. I love your magical world and Mrs Throwbridge.
Ahh afternoon tea with a frog and a shrew. Couldn't get any better.
Now I am giving all my hope to a happy ending!
A pinch of Robert Frost and a dash of Shel Silverstein, and what do you get? Socmo's daddy...Doug Jones. Read the poem that he wrote for Mrs. Trowbridge in these comments. Thanks, Doug. I appreciate it and Mrs. T would too.
The illustration poem are both so extremely delightful. A toad and a shrew seems like a match made in heaven to me!
I am in awe of your tremendous talents. The humor, prose, artwork (ie:movement, color, composition, subject and downright beautiful work!)I can't wait to see what comes out of your imagination for next week!
Such a wonderful story. I've never seen such a cute lil'shrew!
This is delightful! I hadn't thought about adding so much in the form of a story to the drawing, but it added so much to the "assignment." :)
Beautiful work!
How could she resist? This is yet another one of your incredible, beautiful and delightful offerings. My compliments to Mrs. Trowbridge, I had no idea she could write limericks as well as paint treasured memories.
What a fantastic idea! I love it - I am so excited to follow the adventure! Your art is amazing and your decorative writing as well. Completely awesome.
I love it! So whimsical and fanscinating about Mrs T.
TRUE love 4 all! I am cheering for these 2... I hope she says, yes.
How utterly romatic... the sweetest proposal, every!
Hopeful kisses,
The Tart
Ps...BTW, I am hopelessy devoted to Robert Frost!
